This story is in continuation to the previous one ‘Do you think of moving to the hills while living in the cities?’. While living here, I learned that gardening is not as simple as it looks; and flowers make you smile but for them to bloom, they would require your time, love and care.

Here is a glimpse of some flower pictures that I clicked and my one liners about each one of them. ;) Read through to know a few names in this floral space and also the relevance of the title.

  1. Periwinkle: A common plant in the Indian gardens, I bet you have seen it multiple times! They are commonly seen in white and pink.
  2. Hibiscus: Another common one, but did you ever see a Yellow one too?
  3. Gardenia: A new name to remember, has a mild fragrance!
Left: Periwinkle, Middle: Yellow Hibiscus, Right: Gardenia

4. Amaryllis Lily: There are too many types and colors of lilies, a few other names for resembling flowers were Belladonna Lily and Madonna Lily. I guess the white ones are Easter Lilies. ;)

5. Nasturtium: This one is an easy to grow in the hills and available in Orange and Yellow color. Not to miss the sepal that extends beyond the stem, it’s also one of the edible flowers.

6. Pansy: They are also called as Monkey flowers or monkey faced pansies.

Left: Amaryllis Lily, Middle: Nasturtium, Right: Pansies

7. Gerbera: I bet you have read the name while ordering bouquets for your loved ones! I love these! ❤

8. Gazania: Sweet ones, they would make you smile indeed! :)

9. Geranium: Bright red in color and mostly seen in hilly areas.

Left: Gerbera, Middle: Gazania, Right: Geranium

10. Ice plant flower: I planted the saplings of these in the month of November, they bloomed in April and lasted only for 15 days. So short lived. :(

11. Petunia: Another commonly seen flower and easy to grow.

12. Dianthus: Got petals with spikes, usually seen in a combination of pink and white.

Left: Ice plant flower, Middle: Petunia, Right: Dianthus

13. Daisy: Pretty white flower, easy to grow! It closes it’s petals in the evening and opens in the morning.

14. Calendula: Bright orange! ❤

15. Water Lily: As the name suggests, grows in water. Love the yellow color there!

Left: Daisy, Middle: Calendulla, Right: Water Lily

16. Aster: Starry shaped flowers!

17. Salvia: These are tube shaped flowers, also known as ‘sage’.

18. Iris flower: Purple in color but differently shaped.🤷‍

Left: Aster, Middle: Salvia, Right: Iris flower

19. Datura flower: Ever heard of the term ‘bhaang-dhatura’ in hymns dedicated to Lord Shiva? This is the Dhatura/Datura flower that is offered to Lord Shiva. Well, I did go an extra mile to capture this one!

20. Marigold: Another common one, but we barely think of the name when we look at it.

21. Jasmine: That’s the one used in Gajra(a flower garland used by women to wear around their hair bun).

Left: Datura, Middle: Yellow Marigold, Right: Jasmine

22. Bougainvillea: Not a new one but now I know how to spell it.. 😆

23. Zinnia: Comes in a variety of colors, the petals can be single row or multiple. This one is a single row with a bright and visible center.

24. Trumpet vine: It takes years and years(maybe 5–10) to grow a creeper as beautiful as this one.

Left: Bougainvillea and I, Middle: Zinnia flower, Right: Trumpet vine

PS: All pictures of the flowers are clicked by me.

Let me know in the comments below if you learned a new flower name today or your favorite click. ;) Happy to share, keep learning new things everyday! Cheers. :)
